Holiday Decor under $5

With christmas right around the corner, its time to finish up that last minute shopping and decor! I know a lot of us might have been a bit generous with gifting this year, so here are 3 budget friendly decor ideas all for $5 or less!

Purchase cardstock in bright glittery colors, which are usually about 50 cents a piece. Cut the card stock on a diagonal to form a square. Continue folding until you cannot anymore and cut random designs. Open you to reveal a beautiful and unique snowflake! I used minty green dental floss to hang my snowflakes (gives you that minty aroma)

Purchase a bag of holiday sparkle pom-poms – these were $2.99 at Michaels. Thread the pom-poms onto the needle and thread spacing each one about 2 inches apart. Then tie off the end and hang!

For some table centerpieces, here’s a great idea. Purchase a vase, candle stick holder, an ornament and some decorative foliage. I purchased all items for $1 or less. Glue the vase onto the candle stick holder and let it dry. Then arrange the foliage and ornament inside each hurricane vase. You can fill them with water, or just let the sparkles speak for themselves :)

DIY Peppermint Trays

Can you believe Christmas is right around the corner?! It totally creeped up on me. I’ll actually be hosting ┬áChristmas party this year, so stay tuned for decor ideas, crafts, recipes and outfits all week long! Here’s a quick DIY that can bring festive cheer to any table. It’s simply made from a handful of those cheap starlight mints you find when you leave any restaurant. Unwrap them first! Then arrange in your desired shape on a cookie tray, lined with parchment paper and bake in a 300 degree oven for about 10-15 minutes. Allow it to cool for about 30 seconds (be careful the hot candy can burn you) and quickly trim off the edges. Once completely cooled, place your holiday cookies, cupcakes or treats on the trays! You could also use a cookie cutter to cut out peppermint ornaments for the tree. Enjoy!
