Jeera rice and Dal fry is a repletion meal to North Indians. Basmati rice is cooked al dente and seasoned with cumin seeds and finely chopped coriander leaves. Some prefer to add in a few whole spices as well, to make it increasingly flavourful. I have stuck to the traditional method using only the mentioned spiced.
Dal fry is a fragrant dal spiced with ginger, garlic, untried chillies and garnished with coriander leaves. Though tomatoes are used as a souring agent, a generous drizzle of lemon juice adds the necessary zing!
